With another snowmobile season approaching, there have been some inquiries regarding Driver Training. This OFSC program offers driver training to persons 12 years of age and older that do not possess any type of a Ontario Driver License. At the conclusion of the course and examination, the student will be issued a MTO license. This enables to person to operate a snowmobile under the The Motorized Snow Vehicle Act. For persons 16 years of age and older, this license allows a person to operate a snowmobile on trails, some roads and lakes. Persons from the ages of 12 to 15 years are only allowed to operate a snowmobile on trails, lakes and places were snowmobiles are allowed. This does not include roads. In fact, under this Act, a person under the age of 16 is prohibited from crossing roads even if he or she has this license. Do to another new regulation for this season, unfortunately all persons interested in taking this one day course will have to pre-register in person. You may pre-register at our club’s monthly meeting (1st Thursday of each month) at Brian Orser Arena from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. However, please call me first and let me know that you are interested in registering.
