HEALTH & SAFETY

The Orillia District Snowmobile Club adopted a Health and Safety Policy at the Feb. 7/08 meeting.  The Policy acknowledges the Club's commitment to the Health and Safety of the club's employees (Groomer Operators), Volunteers, Riders and the General Public.  A Joint Health and Safety Committee was established and will work to identify potential hazards/risks, develop appropriate operational procedures and identify training and development opportunities.  Please contact Fraser Newton (Volunteer Health and Safety Coordinator); fraser@sledorillia.com for additional information.

GROOMING:
DID YOU KNOW?

* Orillia's fleet of  three Groomers operate every night of the week - Weather and conditions permitting.  Even with this aggressive schedule, the 350 Km of trail are groomed, on average, every other day.

* That a Groomer's maximum speed is less than 7 Km per hour?

* That a trail surface takes a minimum of 4 hours to set-up after grooming...given the right temperature conditions.

*  Sleds traveling aggressively on a "just" groomed trail will destroy an entire nights work (and also the following days ride).

TRUE OR FALSE:

Landowners are compensated for the use of their property.
FALSE:  Our sports greatest supporters do so with out any type of payment.  RESPECT their property and the privilege they extend to us.

Club Executive Members and Active Volunteers get their Trail passes for Free.
ABSOLUTELY FALSE:  No one rides for free.  That is why we do not have much use or sympathy for those  caught on the trail without a PASS.
