Well, here’s to a prosperous and high mileage 2016!!!!
We’re just getting in to the snow, which is a very welcome sight! We were able to move the groomer yesterday from its summer storage location to the winter one, and of course, had to do a little extra trail packing along the way!!!!
Although it’s white outside, nothing is frozen underneath, so we’ll be struggling to get complete loops of trails, but certainly sections will be being worked on.
So of course, our early season openers (the dry ones!!!), like the rail lines will be open first. As always, during the beginning of the year, we’ll be out grooming during daylight hours. Trails need about 4hrs to setup after the groomer has gone by, depending on temperatures, so it’s actually best if are able to stay off the trails for another short time (couple more days hopefully).
Please, this year will be the worst, but please, stay off farmers fields. I know everyone will have itchy trigger fingers and will be extremely eager with anticipation, but please resist the temptation to run up and down the private lands of our graceful landowners. The ground is not frozen underneath and you’ll rip up the ground. Stick to the trails when we do get it open!
Water…….wow…what can we say about that…stay away from anything remotely wet…..we could have been tubing with the boat on the lake a couple of days ago…..don’t even think it will be ready, anywhere there is water, puddles, mud holes and swamps, nothing can be trusted at this point!!!
They are calling for cold temps on Sunday, but it’s really the first we’ve had for this year, 1 day is not enough, but will sure help!
Stay safe and ride with respect, the rail lines are multiuse, so dog walkers, hikers, they are all on the same trail, we all get to use the same trails! BUT NO 4 WHEELERS!! EVER!!! They cause serious damage to the trails with the dangerous ruts they leave behind!
We’re getting there, very soon we’ll have some yellow and green on the interactive map!!!!
Happy New Year Everyone!
