Yikes…the rain started just after midnight last night….and yes, what a mess. It’s +4 and rain at the moment…not terribly heavy but rain nonetheless.
The good news is we were able to get out and flatten the trails out after the weekends heavy traffic…so before the rain came it was at least flat…hopefully it will freeze tonight (Tuesday Jan 26). Then we’ll hope for more snow on top.
So, this past weekend, wanted to pass along the note that we were out there…a lot…with the groomers, but snowmobiles cause bumpy trails…the more machines, the more bumps, the smaller the base the easier it is trash the trails with the machines…so put that together for this past and what do you get….a bumpy trail, traffic was quite heavy on a limited base.
On the upside, if this base freezes, then we’ll have a solid foundation to build on…..but not a lot of snow to fill in the bumps, rocks, stumps, ditches, etc. Ride with caution!
OK…so back over to another topic of discussion….STAY ON THE TRAILS please! We are going to have issues as the farmers don’t want to see tracks all over the fields. So if one person does it, it does not mean you can go do it as well. Don’t follow tracks off the trail!!
I realize people are just looking for clean snow for the machines….and to ride in snow….but the landowners, the city and twp officials, the neighbours, they do not see it that way….they see it as….we can’t be controlled and can’t stay on the trails we do have….why give us more, or be allowed to keep the ones we have!!! Think about that when we scratch down the roadside and think back to the trail we used to have through the woods and fields instead!!!!
We’ll let you know how things shape up! Hopefully we’ll have some good news for the weekend!
Keep it rubber side down!
